HICCUPS Hiccup is usually an embarrassing un intended voice from the throat after a spicy hearty meal in a restaurant or a party.Hiccup could be one or many lasting for a few minutes or in severe cases for days or weeks. Eating spicy food Eating too quickly Eating cold meats Drinking too much alcohol Excitement or stress of any kind Stress on the vegas or pherenic nerve Head injuries, ulcers, pancreatitis in difficult cases are few causes of hiccups. The diaphragm contracts for any of these reasons , this creates sudden filling of air in the lungs which closes the glottis. Glottis is the valve above the vocal chords . This closes the vocal chord by a lightening speed which makes the hiccup sound. In hindi language it is called hichki. SLIP DISC Whenever and wherever you are positioned just give a thought to your body, are you comfortable? This will keep all the muscles of the body relaxed and free from pain. Sujok therapy allows free flow of energies and reduces pain which is due to their stagnation. Needles, seeds, magnets, leaves, sticks, colour all are used to harmonies the body and its five elements. In the Sujok correspondence theory, the body is represented on the hand and foot. The spine is represented on the yang (nail) side of the hand where the cervical spine start from the 1st joint of the thumb. Go straight to the wrist this is part of the thoracic spine, then start from the middle of the wrist to the area between the tall finger and the ring finger. This starts with thoracic 9 to 12, then lumbar, sacrum and lastly coccyx. we stimulate this area by rubbing, massaging , coloring , needling or putting seeds (with a paper tape).The pain ball would be broken giving healing to the patient. Our back bone is not one single big bone but made up of pieces called vertebra's, to give flexibility and bending capacity. There is a disc between these vertebra's to prevent them from rubbing against each other and causing inflammation. Sometimes due to shock in an accident, while jumping, lifting weights these discs move out of their place. Sometimes due to degeneration of the bone these vertebra's can’t hold the disc, hence slip out. Working on computer for long hours usually gives cervical herniation , massaging on the correspondence neck will give relief. Lifting or pushing heavy weight can injure the lumber disc. FIBROMYALGIA Fibromyalgia is a chronic painful condition which can have up to 18 specific painful points , out of which the patient should atleast have 11 for him to be regarded as a patient of fibromyalgia. Chronic pains , sore muscles, joint pains and .chronic fatigue are most common symptoms. There are these specific points on the base of the skull, lower neck, chest, elbows, knees, inner shoulder, shoulder top, upper and lower hip which are specific for fibromyalgia. The main reason is understood to be disorder of the central nervous system. There is disturbance in sleep, patient does not feel fresh on waking up, burning , numbness or tingling which is worse on waking up and improves with movement. WINTER SKIN Keeping the skin healthy in winter is a skill which everybody would love to learn. Skin is the largest organ and its care is not just from outside but more from inside out. The skin becomes dry due to external causes but it is also being affected due to the internal environment. An individual must improve his immunity to decrease body's sensitivity to cold. Among the internal organs which can look after the skin specifically are the lungs and the large intestine. Hence exercise during the winter months is very important. Breathing exercise, playing in the sun if possible, jogging, running and physical exercise would move the Qi or Chi or Energy of the lungs. Blood stagnation will also clear and along with the Qi blood flow will improve and make the skin shiny and clear. Large intestine is another organ which has a see-saw balance between the lungs. Hence in cold attacks the constipation is inevitable. This has to be tackled by Sujok Acupuncture, seed or magnets or colour therapy. Drinking enough water consciously is very important as thirst condition is not there in winter months. **Oil could be added to bath water and applied to skin directly.**The toxins are removed from the skin by keeping our lungs and large intestine in good condition which relieves us of itchy and red skin.
